This year’s Synergy Days, held in Rotterdam on 21–22 October 2025 and organised by SmartAgriHubs, brought together Europe’s leading digital innovators in the agri-food sector. Over two engaging days, ARGONAUT joined more than 30 EU-funded projects, researchers, and digital innovation hubs to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration.
Presenting ARGONAUT
Throughout the event ARGONAUT’s booth served as a meeting point for engaging discussions on the project’s vision, methodology, and expected outcomes. During the pitch session, Bruno Barrionuevo Sarmiento, Research Associate at Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), and project manager of ARGONAUT, presented the project’s core innovation: JASON, our AI-powered tool designed to assess the environmental and climate impact of bio-based products across their entire life cycle. The tool supports SME producers in evaluating and enhancing the sustainability of their products. All assessment data will be recorded through a Digital Bio-Product Passport (DBP), powered by blockchain technology, ensuring traceability, transparency, and credibility.
Engaging Workshops on Bioeconomy & Digital Tools
On the first day, ARGONAUT, together with the EFRA project, co-organised the workshop “Business Models for AI-Powered Platforms in Bioeconomy and Food Chains” and involved participants in real-time discussions on data-driven innovation and sustainable strategies for digital platforms. Through live polls and open dialogue, stakeholders explored the following questions:
- What are the most important issues that bio-based producers face?
- How can bio-producers today evaluate and prove that their products are eco-friendly?
- How could ARGONAUT tackle the issues bio-producers face?
- Apart from small & medium sized bio-product producers, who else would be interested in a solution like JASON?
- What do you think is the more appropriate revenue model for a platform like JASON?
- What are the main communication channels that ARGONAUT should utilise?
On the second day and during the second workshop, that was co-organised with our sister project bi0space, titled “Lowering adoption barriers for Digital Product Passports”, participants engaged in valuable and interactive workshop the technical and structural prerequisites for the successful implementation of Digital Product Passports (DPP). Participant were exposed to the current format of a DPP and then had the chance to engage in group discussions on the content that future iterations should have. Each group worked on a different use case and participants proposed the relevant information that they would like to see in the DPP and in what format this info would be more useful. The exercise shed a light on the inherent complexities of DPP creation while at the same time provided input for both projects that can be utilised moving forward.
ARGONAUT’s participation at Synergy Days 2025 reinforced its commitment to stakeholder engagement and collaborative development. The event offered a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, share progress, and showcase JASON and the Digital Bio-Product Passport (DBP) at the forefront of Europe’s bioeconomy digital transition.
