ARGONAUT at the BIOBASEDCERT Cluster Final Conference: Advancing Certification for a Sustainable Bioeconomy

On May 13th, ARGONAUT took part in the final conference of the BIOBASEDCERT Cluster—a key event dedicated to the role of certification schemes and sustainability labels in supporting the EU bioeconomy and upcoming policy frameworks such as the Green Claims Directive and the Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation.

The event brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to explore how voluntary sustainability certification systems can serve as effective tools for a sustainable circular bioeconomy. Sessions covered the BIOBASEDCERT Monitoring Tool, trade flow analysis, cost-benefit assessments, and more.

While ARGONAUT was not among the projects presenting formal outcomes, we actively contributed to the interactive workshops and panel discussions, particularly in conversations around Digital Product Passports (DPPs). We highlighted the potential of DPPs to increase transparency, credibility, and traceability in certification systems—principles that are central to our project’s mission.

The conference was also a valuable networking opportunity, allowing us to connect with like-minded initiatives focused on certification and traceability for bio-based products across Europe.

Our participation further reinforced ARGONAUT’s commitment to supporting policy-aligned innovation and helping shape the future of digital certification in the bioeconomy sector.

Stay connected for more insights as we continue building tools and knowledge to strengthen sustainability in bio-based value chains.
